Safecom understands that protection of a client's data assets and their reputation as a safe and dependable Internet system operator is just as important as having systems available when needed. This is why we operate a highly sophisticated intrusion detection system and continually monitor our network and server environment. Safecom provides all clients with no fewer than four levels of network security to protect their applications from the multitude of threats present on the Internet.
An Intrusion Detection System (IDS) provides the second level of network security. This system interrogates every inbound and outbound transaction to ensure that only valid service requests are passed to a customer's web site or application. Whenever an invalid request is identified the IDS automatically "erase" it before it reaches the target system. IDS technology plays a key role in reducing the impact of Denial of Service (DoS), which has recently plagued even companies like Microsoft. The third level of security is provided by an additional firewall system that has been configured to further control how computers connected to the Internet and hosts within the Safecom network environment communicate with each other. The fourth and final level of security uses switching and routing technology to segregate the Safecom network into a number of logical security Zones. Each zone contains hosts that perform a specific set of predefined functions. Typically only Web, Mail and DNS servers are placed in a zone accessible from the Internet. All other hosts, including Database server and Transaction processing engines, are placed in a secured Zone that is not accessible from the Internet. A sophisticated set of routing rules is then employed to only permit communication between "Web Zone" servers and "Secure Zone" servers on an as needed basis.
The site incorporates the latest environmental management features to safeguard the physical operating environment:
