Value Added Services

It is from our detailed knowledge of the Hosting environment and our understanding of all aspects relating to such a service (security, high levels of availability, who is visiting the site, what are they doing when visiting, how are they locating the site, etc) that we have developed expertise in many other areas and are able to provide additional services such as,

  • Log File Analysis,
  • Search Engine Positioning,
  • Consulting
  • An important aspect about the provision of such services is that Safecom need not be the Hosting Service provider. To provide the Log File Analysis we only require you to give us a copy of your logs for the determined period..

    The Log File Analysis

As part of our monthly hosting fees, Safecom maintains server logs, which record every page request for your site. Unlike many other hosting providers, Safecom has stored these raw server log files online since May 2001, allowing an historical trend database to be built up over time, ready for analysis. From this database, a huge amount of specific marketing insight can be gained into how your site is used; which pages are viewed most; where your site could be confusing your visitors and how people find, navigate, and use your website.

As part of the monthly hosting fees, Safecom also provides an on line interrogation tool, which allows our clients to access these raw log files, and perform their own analysis of their own sites.

However, many clients have indicated they have neither the staff, nor the skills, to turn this data into real useable business intelligence. Our customers want the information but without having to wade through the log files.

As a result Safecom has introduced a Site Statistics Analysis Service, where we will use sophisticated tools and our Internet expertise to analyse your log file data and present the information about your site to you in a much more easily understood fashion. We can also provide this same service to clients whose Website we are not hosting as long as they are able to provide Safecom with their raw log file data.

Safecom will analyse your raw log files, and present a written report identifying:.

    • Traffic trends,
    • Usage trends,
    • Strengths and weaknesses of current site design.

This analysis will be presented to you in both report and presentation form.

We can provide this Site Statistics Analysis Service on a monthly, quarterly basis, or as is required. For example, if you run a promotion it is extremely valid to know what has occurred.

    The Search Engine Positioning

Historically Search Engines 'spidered' your site. Once your site was 'live' it was just a case of 'wait, and the Search Engines will come, and you will get a good ranking for your website'. In December 1999, the 'public' Internet reached 1 billion pages. By mid 2001 there were estimated to be over 6 billion 'public' pages on the Internet. The largest Search Engines (Google and MSN) claim to have indexed nearly 2 billion (around 30%) of them. New pages are added at a rate of around 7 million per day. The growth is exponential. The Search Engines cannot keep up the process of indexing, and re-indexing, these changing pages, for the entire Internet for free. The laws of Economics provided an answer and many major Search Engines now require payment of a fee for inclusion of commercial sites in their databases. Payment of a 'submission fee' gets the engine to spider or review, and (hopefully) lists your site but it does not guarantee any ranking position or listing. Many single words will now generate over 10 million 'matches' in the Google Search Engine. Do you want to leave 'to chance' your sites ranked position on this listing?

Market research indicates that there are over 320 million searches conducted each day on Search Engines - ( around 1,052,000 per day in Australia) and around 80% of Internet users use Search Engines to find products, services and companies on the net. Around 81% claim that they found 'what they were looking for' at the time they were looking for it. And when potential customers are faced with hundreds (or thousands) of pages of 'matching results' - they rarely look past the second page of results. Being in the Search Engines is important but more so is a ranking towards the top of the listing for your targeted key search words & products. These are qualified buyers looking to buy or researching their purchase in order to buy off line.

Many people still believe that just by filling their Meta keyword tag with a lot of brand names, trademarks and relevant keywords, they will get a first or second page ranking in all the major Search Engines. Unfortunately this isn't the case. Firstly, every Search Engine treats metatags differently, and the extent to which metatags influence your page ranking varies greatly from one Search Engine to another. The meta keyword tag is not used by many of the major Search Engines/ Directories.

The engines consider anything that's toward the top of the page to be more relevant than anything further down on the page. Repetition and placement of selected keyword phrases and length of text are critical. Our role is to make sure that the right words, occur the right number of times, in the right place, in the correct prominence and these pages are submitted to the right engines to ensure you rank well across ALL the Search Engines which use these databases.

Our process involves reviewing the architecture of your site, and agreeing the preferred entry points (URLs) for each of the targeted products/services you are promoting. We will then work with you to select agreed keywords and phrases, which we then test for effectiveness using our tools. We will then work with you, or your agency, to integrate these keywords/phrases into the textual fabric of your html code. Our goal is to optimize your page in such a way that the 'look and feel' of the page doesn't change. We will then provide this code to you, or your web development partner, for integration & testing. Once this is completed, we will submit your site to the major Search Engines/Directories. We will provide written reports showing effectiveness of the keywords in ranking your site on the major Search Engines.

This isn't a static process, as the Search Engines are continually 'optimizing' their ranking algorithms, adding new websites to their databases etc. and your ranking will change over time. We also therefore recommend a quarterly review of your sites position, which we can present to you, together with a written reports and our recommendations for improving or maintaining your ranking.

We provide a range of services based around Search Engine activity, including-

    • Pay per Click" Search Engine Lead Generation.
